ROKAnol® L2 is a non-ionic surfactant (ethoxylated fatty alcohols, INCI name: Laureth-2). The product belongs to the group of surfactants based on lauryl alcohol. It differs from ROKAnol® LK2 (INCI name: Laureth-2), which is mainly used as an intermediate in thesynthesis of anionic surfactants (lauryl ether sulphates, SLES), in water content (0.3% max.).
It is a transparent or turbid liquid which over time gets clear at the top and turbid with a sediment at the bottom (50 max. Pt/Co scale) at 40°C. ROKAnol® L2 is poorly soluble in water, it makes turbid solutions. The commercial product contains over 99.9% of the active substance, and solidifies at a temperature of about 0°C. Compared to the other ROKAnols® of L series, it has a low HLB.
ROKAnol® L2 is used as an ingredient in cosmetic formulations, such as shampoos, shower gels, bath lotions, and other washable cosmetics, in which it acts as a cleaning agent and rheology modifier (thickening agent). It also demonstrates the ability to solubilize a wide range of perfumes and active ingredients.
ROKAnol® L2 is used in various types of preparations intended for washing, cleaning, laundry, usually in compositions with other non-ionic, anionic or cationic surfactants. ROKAnol L2 can be used in an oxidizing, reducing and hard water environment. It is active in acid and neutral baths, and diluted alkalis.
ROKAnol® L2 does not exhibit any foaming properties, but it is characterised by very good detergent, emulsifying and dispersing properties. It is a biodegradable product in natural environment.
