Roflam B7V is a halogen-free phosphor flame retardant in the form of a colourless liquid. Due to its low dynamic viscosity and very good compatibility with many raw materials, it is successfully used, among others in highly filled polyurethane plastics, epoxy resins, vinyl ester resins and unsaturated polyester resins. In comparison to other flame retardants belonging to the group of aryl phosphoric esters, it is characterized by a lack of classification for the threat to human health, as well as a low content of volatile organic compounds, including free phenol.
The product inhibits the solid-state combustion process, creating a char layer on the surface of burning plastic. By cutting off the access of oxygen from the air to the smoking zone, the burning process of the material is limited.
Owing to completely halogen-free solution, during the combustion process Roflam B7V does not generate toxic gases, such as hydrogen chloride, hydrogen bromide. For this reason, it is especially chosen for applications with very complex and restrictive requirements. The flame retardancy effect can be further increased by using the product in combination with powder solutions, i.e. melamine, ammonium polyphosphate, aluminium hydroxide, and magnesium hydroxide. The simultaneous use of these two product groups enable to create a synergy effect, thanks to which stringent flammability criteria are met.
Due to the reduced content of volatile organic compounds, Roflam B7V is used primarily in materials that are the interior design elements of apartments, public buildings, as well as vehicles.
Roflam B7V is dedicated to flexible and semi-rigid polyurethane foams. It is an excellent alternative to the halogen flame retardants commonly used in such materials. Thank to combine iRoflam B7V with other types of flame reterdats, positive results in the flammability tests required in the automotive industry (e.g. FMVSS 302) as well as in the construction industry are obtained. Materials using Roflam B7V achieve, among others, class B2 according to DIN 4102-1 (class E according to 13501-1). It is also successfully used in construction materials based on epoxy, vinyl ester and unsaturated polyester resins. Due to the low acid number, it can be successfully used with basic catalysts. It is used in both open formulations and two-component systems.
