SULFOROKAnol L725/1 is an anionic surface active agent based on ethoxylated lauryl alcohol. The product is available as a transparent aqueous solution with a 25% active ingredient concentration.
The primary application of SULFOROKAnol L725/1 is the industrial process of emulsion polymerisation, where the product is used as an anionic emulsification agent. SULFOROKAnol L725/1 is particularly recommended for production processes of acrylic, styrene-acrylic, and vinyl acetate copolymers dispersions, which are used in the paint and varnish industry, civil engineering, or in textile manufacturing.
Use of the product in emulsion polymerisation processes ensures dispersions with a low particle size and very low coagulate content. An ethoxylation degree higher than for standard SLESs enables achieving superior application properties, including improved tolerance to the presence of inorganic salts and solvents, both in dispersion synthesis processes and in finished products. Compared to typically used emulsifiers, SULFOROKAnol L725/1 enables a noticeable improvement in certain application properties of dispersions, e.g. water resistance of the resulting polymer coats.
To achieve the maximum effectiveness, it is recommended to use SULFOROKAnol L725/1 in combination with non-ionic surface active agents, such as ROKAnol L30/65, ROKAnol IT40/70, ROKAnol UD28/70, ROKAnol UD40/70 or ROKAnol TSP25/80. Recommended product level is an amount of active ingredient equal to 0.5-3% of total monomer weight.
The product is approved for use as an indirect food additive on the basis of a list published by the German organization BfR (Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung).
