ROKAnol® L9 is a non-ionic surfactant belonging to the group of ethoxylated fatty alcohols, INCI: Laureth-9. The product belongs to the group of surfactants based on lauryl alcohol. At room temperature, it is a liquid paste with a colour of max. 50 on the Hazen scale (measured at 40°C). ROKAnol® L9 is very soluble in water. The HLB parameter value for this product is approximately 13.4. The commercial product contains over 99% of the active substance and solidifies at a temperature of approx. 21°C.
ROKAnol® L9 is characterised by higher hydrophilicity compared to ROKAnol® L7. It has additional emulsifying and solubilising properties. Due to the high cloud point value in water, it can be used in applications requiring high temperature.
Thanks to its very good detergency, wetting, dispersing and emulsifying properties, the product is used as a basic surfactant in liquid and powder detergents, dishwashing liquids, household and technical cleaning products and hand cleaners. In these applications, it shows synergy in action with ROKAnol® LK3, giving a high detergency effect and limiting the redeposition of dirt.
ROKAnol® L9 can be used in oxidising, reducing and hard water environments. It is active in cold water, in acid and neutral baths, as well as in diluted alkalis. It shows higher resistance to an alkaline environment than ROKAnol® L7. ROKAnol® L9 can be used in a mixture with other non-ionic auxiliaries and with anionic and cationic surfactants. In a mixture with alkyl sulphates and alkylarylsulphonates, it has a synergistic washing and cleaning effect.
ROKAnol® L9 is also widely used in cosmetic preparations, including for washing and care of skin and hair, in colour cosmetics, sunscreens, shaving and aftershave cosmetics. In addition, the product is used in the pre-treatment of fibres as a component of a formulation that removes oil stains (mineral oils) from woven/knitted fabrics that result from industrial knitting and weaving processes. Due to the wetting properties of cotton fabrics, it can be used as a component of bleaching compositions for raw knits and cotton fabrics. It is also used in the final stage of the dyeing process of textiles as one of the components removing excess dyes from the bath.
ROKAnol® L9 is biodegradable in the natural environment.
