ROKAnol IT10W belongs to non-ionic surfactants in the group of ethoxylated fatty alcohols (INCI Isotrideceth-10). The product adds to the large group of surfactants based on isotridecyl alcohol, iso-C13.
The marketed product contains approx. 100% of the active substance. It comes as a liquid with an oil or paste consistency. At the room temperature, it is a clear liquid with a max colour of 100 on the Hazen scale. Its solidification point is approx. -4°C.
ROKAnol® IT10W is hydrophilic, so it dissolves well in water and low aliphatic alcohols. It features a high cloud point that oscillates around 73÷78°C in an aqueous solution.
ROKAnol IT10W exhibits stability both in oxidising and reducing environment, as well as in the presence of hard water. Moreover, the product is resistant to acidic and alkaline formulations, to the presence of salts and organic solvents, which are included in formulations as a result of meeting special, restrictive application requirements.
ROKAnol IT10W features a high resistance to electrolytes, especially alkalis, as compared to lower ethoxylates in the ROKAnol IT series. Thus the product can be effectively used in more alkaline formulations, especially in professional detergents, and in auxiliary agents in the textile industry.
As there are no ionic forms in its chemical structure, ROKAnol IT10W can be used in combination with other non-ionic surfactants and in formulations that contain anionic and cationic surfactants.
As compared to the other ROKAnol IT series products, this one stands out due to its high foam forming capacity and very short wetting time. Moreover, it exhibits very good degreasing and detergent properties, thus providing for highly efficient removal of impurities from woven/knitted fabrics and hard surfaces.
ROKAnol IT10W is an excellent ingredient of preparations for fibre pre-treatment processes. The product is effective in the removal of oil stains of a mineral origin from woven/knitted fabrics that result from knitting/weaving processes. Due to its excellent wetting properties, ROKAnol IT10W can be an ingredient of bleaching compositions for raw cotton knitted and woven fabrics. When used in a bleaching bath, the product improves the capillarity of a dye during the next fibre treatment stage, i.e. the dyeing process.
ROKAnol IT10W is also used in the industry as a very good emulsifier for the silicone oil, forming microemulsions with the silicone oil. Such compositions are used e.g. as softening agents required for textile processes.
The product complies with the safety standards for textile products set by leading global textile research institutes, such as the Oeko-Tex Standard Association and the ZDHC Programme.
The compatibility of Rokanol IT10W with derivatives of silicone compounds is used in the production of hair washing, care and styling cosmetics, e.g. hair shampoos, conditioners and gels, anti-hair loss preparations and tanning cosmetics.
ROKAnol IT10W is also an excellent co-emulsifier in the emulsion polymerisation process, improving the resistance of the dispersion to the presence of agents such as electrolytes, hard water or solvents. The product may be used in the production of acrylic, styrene-acrylic dispersions, vinyl acetate homo- and co-polymer dispersions, including VAE dispersions.
ROKAnol IT10W is also a semi-finished product for producing anionic surfactants, including phosphoric esters or carboxy ethers.
Besides, the product is used as an additive in the production of food packaging or materials intended for food contact. Its composition is compliant with regulations allowing the product to come into indirect contact with food, based on the lists published by the US FDA organisation (Food and Drug Administration) and the German BfR organisation (Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung).
