Fertilizer lime is a professional product designed to improve soil quality and provide essential nutrients for plants. It is a mineral substance containing at least 30% (w/w) of calcium as calcium oxide (CaO) and calcium carbonate (CaCO3). It is available in a solid, bulk and homogeneous form.
Fertilizer lime is the most active form of lime, readily acting in the soil. It can be used in all soil types – in agriculture, forestry, horticulture and orchards.
The main purpose of fertilizer lime application is to increase soil pH, which affects the availability of nutrients for plants. If added to acidic soil, lime fertilizer reacts with the acids, neutralizes them and raises soil pH to a more optimal level. This leads to and increase in the soil's ability to absorb nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, which affects the growth and development of plants.
Also, the use of fertilizer lime reduces the uptake of heavy metals (e.g. lead, cadmium, etc.). In addition, fertilizer lime improves the structure of heavy soils, increasing their permeability to air and water.
High-calcium fertilizer lime (at least 30% CaO) is especially effective in acidic low-calcium soils. Improving soil pH and providing calcium promotes favourable environment for plant growth, increases yield and improves crop quality. The nutrients provided by calcium are essential for building healthy and strong leaf and root tissues. It is especially needed by vegetables and fruits requiring a high level of supplied calcium.
One of the benefits of fertilizer lime is also a protective effect of limiting the development of certain plants and pests. Modification the leaf surface pH after the application of fertilizer may also hinder the development of some pests or pathogens.
Fertilizer lime application:
Depending on the agronomic category of the soil, fertilizer lime 20W should be applied in quantities from 5 to 20 tons/ha, every 4-5 years. The best fertilization period is the summer for post-harvest cultivation.
It is recommended to apply the product using a fertilizer spreader, evenly on the surface of the field and mix it with a layer of soil 20 to 25 cm high.
Storage:
The product should be stored in heaps, protected against dirt and moisture, on a hardened and impermeable substrate.
