ROKAnol T20USP is a non-ionic surfactant belonging to the group of ethoxylated cetearyl alcohols. The commercial product is a creamy, waxy white mass. It solidifies at about 40°C.
The product is based on raw materials of plant origin. As a non-ionic emulsifier, it creates stable oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions, and thus it is readily used in pharmaceutical, cosmetic and dermocosmetic applications.
ROKAnol T20USP meets strict quality requirements specified in the latest edition of the United States Pharmacopoeia.
ROKAnol T20USP can be used as a solubilising, emulsifying or lubricating agent. Moreover, it has good dispersing and thickening properties.
The product is mainly used in combination with other compounds (alcohols and fatty acids). Then, it acts as an agent facilitating the dissolution of other ingredients.
Due to the high degree of ethoxylation of cetostearyl alcohol, ROKAnol T20USP has a strong hydrophilic character. This characteristic enables it to create stable oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions. The product forms particularly stable emulsions in combination with other emulsifiers (e.g. glycerol stearate). It can be used in the preparation of emulsions at room temperature, which is very important for active substances particularly sensitive to high temperatures, which are often included in emulsions.
Contained in skin and hair care cosmetics, ROKAnol T20USP creates an occlusive layer (film) on the surface. The occlusive layer prevents excessive water evaporation. Thanks to this, the product conditions, i.e. softens and smooths the skin and hair. In addition, it reduces the dehydrating effect of anionic compounds.
ROKAnol® T20 is a safe and stable product. It is easily biodegradable. It does not contain preservatives and meets the requirements of Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009 on cosmetics.
ROKAnol T20USP meets the requirements defined by the American Pharmacopoeia and the European Pharmacopoeia defined in the Monograph for Polyoxyl 20 Cetostearyl Ether.
