Superplastyfikator BGP is the equivalent of Superplastyfikator BG40 FF in the form of a powder, i.e. the sodium salt of formaldehyde naphthalene sulfonic acids (NSF) polycondensates. It is a light brown solid with a very low water content (maximum 10%) and sulphates content (maximum 2%) as well as low bulk density, which reduces transport and storage costs. In addition, it has a low concentration of chlorides, so it works perfectly as a base for liquefying and plasticizing admixtures used in the construction industry.
Superplastyfikator BGP belongs to the group of surface-active compounds and is composed of a hydrophobic organic chain and a hydrophilic sulfone group, thanks to which it has very good dispersing properties. For this reason, it also works as a liquefier in the production of drywall.
The operation of Superplastyfikator BGP is mainly based on the principle of electrostatic repulsion. After adsorption of the product on cement or gypsum grains, a layer of identical electrical charges (sulfone groups) forms on them, the mutual repulsion of which causes the disintegration of agglomerates of cement grains (or gypsum) and the release of water trapped in them, causing its increase in liquidity. At the same time, the separation of cement grains from each other over considerable distances extends the time of formation of cement hydration products, which delays the start and end time of setting of the concrete mix.
The addition of Superplastyfikator BGP makes it possible to reduce the water / cement ratio (and thus reduce the consumption of batched water) by up to 25% without compromising the consistency of the mix. As a result, the porosity of hardened concrete is reduced, which in turn translates directly into a significant increase in the late strength of concrete (up to 30% compared to a mixture without its addition). Concrete tightness is also improved, i.e. its resistance to aggressive substances and frost, as well as resistance to abrasion. Early strengths also increase, so the demoulding of the concrete element is accelerated.
If the w/c ratio remains unchanged, and at the same time we reduce the amount of used water, we can reduce the amount of cement used, which, in addition to economic benefits, leads to a decrease in the heat of hydration emitted and reduction of shrinkage arising during the setting of concrete. Superplastyfikator BGP does not contribute to corrosion of steel reinforcements in concrete structures due to the very low concentration of chlorides in the product, which is its undoubted advantage. It does not introduce large amounts of air into the concrete mix, which can potentially lead to deterioration of frost resistance. In addition, it allows concrete to be made at an air temperature of up to -5 ° C without inhibiting cement hydration.
In the production of drywall it is important to reduce production costs while maintaining the liquefaction of the gypsum mixture. The addition of Superplastyfikator BGP makes it possible to reduce the amount of water used in the process, which reduces the drying time of the finished board. At the same time, the product does not affect the setting times and the adhesion between plaster and paper. It promotes the formation of gypsum crystals in the form of needles, thanks to which the board structure is more durable.
The powder form of the product does not deteriorate its application properties, but is important in reducing the cost of transporting the product over considerable distances and reducing storage costs. The use of already small amounts of Superplastyfikator BGP allows for the production of cheap and environmentally friendly concrete, which is also characterized by very good strength and rheological properties. It is mainly recommended for the production of ready-mixed concrete, precast concrete, cement mortars, but also for the production of gypsum components, e.g. drywall.
