Rostabil TPP is an aryl phosphite in the form of a clear liquid with a characteristic, delicate fragrance. It is used as an intermediate in many chemical syntheses. Phosphorus on the third oxidation stage affects its good reduction capabilities used in the deoxygenation process, e.g. sulphoxides to sulphides or aliphatic epoxides to alkenes. The mildly nucleophilic nature of phosphite is used in the conversion of alcohols to alkyl halides.
Rostabil TPP is a key raw material in the synthesis of alkyl-aryl and alkyl phosphites on a large volume scale. These types of phosphites are used as process stabilizers to prevent degradation of plastics during processing.
Triphenyl phosphite is also used as a ligand, forming complexes, among others with nickel, palladium, platinum, which are multifunctional catalysts in many important organic syntheses (alkylation, olefination, cycloaddition, Wittig-Heck reaction, Stille coupling reaction). In turn, by creating an adduct with ozone, it becomes a valuable oxidizing agent, used, for example, for the oxidation of sulphur compounds (sulphides, disulphides). The product is characterized by very high purity and hydrolytic stability.
PCC Rokita SA is one of the largest chemical companies in Poland as well as Central and Eastern Europe. Its activity includes the production of chloroalkali, polyether polyols, polyalkylene glycols and phosphorus derivatives.
