EKOPRODUR 1814W is a two-component polyurethane (PUR) system. It consists of a polyol mix (component A) and isocyanate (component B). Each of the components is a viscous liquid of different physicochemical parameters. Component A has a straw to yellow colour, while component B - brown. The system ensures decreased emissions of VOC (volatile organic compounds), as it does not contain foaming agents significantly depleting the ozone layer. This is in accordance with European Union rules contained in Regulation (EC) No. 1005/2009 of 16 September 2009.
The product is a so called 'water system', which is foamed with carbon dioxide (CO2) obtained in the reaction of component A with component B. Due to the mechanical mixing of the two components a semi-rigid foam of open-cell structure is provided. Due to its high reactivity, it is recommended to process the system using special low- and high-pressure foaming machines.
EKOPRODUR 1814W system due to its low density (apparent density of the core in the finished product is not less than 16 kg/m3) is intended for the production of insulating materials with a partially open cell structure. It was tested in the manufacture of insulation boards and coverings in cladding. Foam system may be also used for thermal insulation of process tanks and boilers. The system distinguishes by good adhesion to most of materials, so its application scope may be extended to the packaging sector, including the production of semi-rigid polyurethane fillings. Slightly modified system is suitable for an injection system.
EKOPRODUR 1814W has a Hygienic Certificate issued by the National Institute of Hygiene (PZH), which confirms that the product used in accordance with manufacturer's instructions does not adversely affect health and the environment.
Foamed EKOPRODUR 1814W system is used mainly for the production of semi-rigid insulation cladding that secures pipelines of central heating systems and hot and cold water pipes in residential, office and industrial buildings.
Main application advantages of the product:
a semi-rigid polyurethane insulation of a wide range of application.
possibility of obtaining a seamless and durable internal thermal insulation,
a light insulating and filling material,
a material of low heat transfer coefficient.
Mechanical properties of polyurethane foam prepared from EKOPRODUR 1814W system:
apparent density of the core: ≥ 16 kg/m3,
classification of the reaction to fire performance: F
closed cell content: ≤ 20%
In order to maintain the stability of the foam system and its all parameters, it should be noted that the mixing and pouring method must ensure that the mould is evenly filled. After demoulding, the finished products should be conditioned. Full mechanical properties of the foam are obtained after 24-hour conditioning.
