Rodys C is supplied in the form of a 40% brown water solution. From a chemical point of view, it is a polymer of naphthalene sulfonic acids with formaldehyde. It is a high quality product that neither has an environmental classification, nor does it contribute to increasing the content of free aromatic hydrocarbons in finished products. Among the Rodys product series, Rodys C has a moderate degree of polymerization.
Rodys C is a polymer made of an organic chain showing hydrophobic properties and a hydrophilic sulfone group. This structure affects the mechanism of the dispersant operation, allowing it to adsorb on the surface of particles, and create on them a layer of unipolar electrical charges. These charges repel each other leading to the disintegration of agglomerates. Thus, it is possible to create colloidal systems and non-coagulating suspended solids in the continuous liquid phase (water).
Rodys C enables the formation of a time-stable dispersion, which is manifested in a very low tendency to re-aggregation of particles, and a constant over time dynamic viscosity of the system. The resulting water dispersions are characterized by the appropriate size of dispersed particles and viscosities enabling their pumpability.
The product is particularly well suited as a dispersant in the agrochemical industry, and in the textile and tanning industry. It can be used in various colloidal systems or permanent aqueous suspensions. Due to both the complexity of the process, which is the creation of dispersion, and the variety of its key parameters, it is recommended to test the product in conditions as close as possible to those prevailing in the relevant application.
