ROKAmid KAD/1A is a non-ionic surfactant (INCI name: Cocamide DEA). The product has slightly better thickening properties compared to ROKAmid KAD. It is produced from natural vegetable oils. It is available in the form of a clear or slightly cloudy liquid with a light yellow to yellow colour.
ROKAmid KAD/1A is one of the most popular cosurfactants and has a number of interesting application properties. First of all, it acts as a rheology modifier, i.e. thickener improving consistency by creating so called mixed micelles. In a mixture with anionic surfactants it improves and stabilizes the quality of the foam. ROKAmid KAD/1A is very effective even in low concentrations.
It has cleansing properties, thanks to which it removes impurities from the surface of the skin and hair, at the same time providing a lubricating effect. The washing process deprives the skin of, among other things, fatty substances, which is why greasing substances such as ROKAmid KAD/1A are used. They restore the lipid barrier, thus protecting the skin against external factors and damage. As a thickening agent, it is also great in the detergent industry, both for home and professional use, as well as in car chemicals.
In addition, the product has emulsifying properties. It is a coemulsifier supporting the emulsifier responsible for producing the emulsion. Due to its synergy with anionic surfactants, ROKAmid KAD/1A is added to concrete admixtures, especially in difficult applications where it improves the aeration level. This non-ionic surfactant can be successfully used in industrial cleaning agents together with other non-ionic degreasing agents, e.g. in the oil industry.
Due to its form and water dispersibility, ROKAmid KAD / 1A can act as a lubricant in the production of plastic parts based on polyethylene and polypropylene. Its antistatic properties enable its application in the plastics production process. In combination with metal salts, it forms an antistatic additive to foamed polystyrene and impact-resistant polystyrene mixtures. The product is also used in water-borne, semi-synthetic and synthetic coolants for metalworking and in polishing agents.
The liquid form of ROKAmid KAD/1A facilitates the product handling (storage, transport, dosing). It also makes it possible to prepare formulations without the need to heat up the substances, which is particularly important in the case of active formulation components that are sensitive to high temperatures.
The product is covered by the ADR/RID regulations.
