Active Play AS H 8004 is a one-component prepolymer adhesive based on diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI). This product is characterized by the most extended open time from the entire series of Active Play adhesives. Similarly to other versions, Active Play AS H 8004 adhesive can be used for the production of cold-formed and hot-formed parts from SBR or EPDM rubber granulates.
The curing process of the adhesive is most often carried out at temperatures ranging from 50 to 110°C. An increased temperature and humidity significantly shorten the total curing period. However, it should be borne in mind that excessive temperature can cause overheating of the adhesive and, consequently, the formation of brittle elements. For higher colour stability, curing technology with a correspondingly lower temperature and higher moisture content should be used. This can be achieved by adding the appropriate (prescribed) amount of water to the rubber granulate at the stage of mixing it with the adhesive. The forming time depends on the temperature, the thickness of the layer formed and the humidity. In order to accelerate the curing process, it is possible to use water, a catalyst or a mixture of both.
Due to the fact that the Active Play AS H 8004 adhesive contains aromatic isocyanates, it is not UV-resistant. For this reason, the created surface should be additionally protected from sunlight, which can change the shade of the granulate if the light colours are used, especially in the case of EPDM granulate.
Active Play AS H 8004 adhesive is a product that is safe for the natural environment. The product does not contain organic solvents.
Main application advantages of the product:
easy adhesive application that allow the possibility of high-quality surfaces to be produced,
the versatility of processing (hot and cold) extends the application capabilities of the adhesive,
in the production of mouldable elements it is possible to reduce the temperature range on the press between 70°C and 100°C,
possible cost reduction due to moulding of components without heating the press.
Technical properties of the product:
adhesive consumption: 5-17% depending on the amount of granulate and fraction
open time (determined using a mist of water from the atomizer): 60-90 minutes
