Active Play AS H 8006 is the sixth in a row, one-component pre-polymer adhesive based on diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI). Alike previous versions of the adhesive, its technology is based on aromatic isocyanates. It is essential that although the adhesive is the product ready for use, it is not resistant to UV radiation. Therefore, it is suggested that surface layer produced made using the adhesive should be precisely secured, for instance by an additional layer of UV resistant product. Most often it is the sunlight that causes colour degradation, especially in the case of using brighter colours of granulate. It is worth stressing that the adhesive in this version has a wider application as regards the open time which amounts from 6 to 12 hours (time measured after using water mist from the atomiser). Alike previous versions, the adhesive can be used to produce elements from rubber granulates on the basis of both hot and cold formed SBR and EPDM.
It should be borne in mind that the application of the adhesive should be preceded by ‘moisture’ of rubber granules used along with pre-polymer. Before applying, rubber granules should be mixed with Active Play AS H 8006 adhesive in a special mixer. Then moistened granules should be put in a mould so that the curing reaction takes place during press pressure under the influence of temperature and humidity (also coming from the air). The properties of the element formed depend on granulation of rubber granules, composition and the amount of Active Play AS H 8006 used, while in the case of forming – also on the compression level while curing.
This product is distinguished as it can produce a very flexible adhesive. Moreover, it should be stressed that most often the adhesive is subject to a hot curing process at high temperatures from 80 to 150°C. The temperature is selected depending on the technology used. An increased temperature and moisture shorten the total curing time. However, too high temperature may cause overheating of the adhesive, thereby causing lower quality on account of increased brittleness of a given element. In order to obtain more stable and durable colour, the curing technology with lower temperature and higher amount of moisture should be used. It can be obtained by adding a suitable amount of water to granules at the moment of mixing it with the adhesive. The total forming time depends on a few parameters, e.g. on the temperature, thickness of the layer and humidity. The curing process can be accelerated by using water, catalyser or a solution consisting of both of these components.
One-component Active Play AS H 8006 adhesive is a safe product for the natural environment because it does not contain organic solvents.
Main application advantages of the product:
Easy application of the adhesive to be combined with rubber granules for the purpose of producing higher flexibility surface
A wide application range of the adhesive because of the possibility of both hot and cold processing
High temperature resistance – the ability to use temperatures from 80°C to 150°C to produce the elements formed
Increased humidity enables to shorten the process of curing the surface or the element
Colour stability can be obtained at a lower temperature and higher humidity
Possible cost reduction – forming of elements without press heating
