EXOdis PC540i is an anionic polymer dispersant of hydrophobic nature. It is supplied in the form of a clear or lightly murky colourless aqueous solution with 25% of sodium salt. The product is intended for the use in paint products. In comparison with other dispersants of hydrophobic nature, EXOdis PC540i has good dispersing properties, in particular with titanium white and mineral fillers.
The addition of EXOdis PC540i allows pigment to be efficiently introduced into the system by significantly decreasing the viscosity of aqueous suspensions of titanium white and mineral fillers. The product is used as a basic dispersant for both waterborne decorative paints and anticorrosive paints for urban environments. With EXOdis PC540i, paint products obtain very good stability even with low concentrations of the dispersant.
The hydrophobic groups contained in the product allow to significantly improve water resistance of the paint products. The dispersant used in the formulation of decorative paints instead of the usually applied polyacrylic acid sodium salt improves resistance of the product to wet scrubbing. Therefore, it is possible to obtain a better abrasion class without the necessity to increase the amount of adhesive material or titanium white. The hydrophobic properties of the product increase the resistance of formulations to atmospheric conditions and corrosives. Therefore, it is is also recommended for facade paints and anticorrosive agents.
EXOdis PC540i applied as the main dispersant in white paints is compatible with acrylic, styrene-acrylic and vinyl-acrylic dispersions as well as vinyl acetate widely used in the sector of paints and varnishes. It is also compatible with the popular rheology modifiers, such as cellulose derivatives or polyurethane-based compounds.
The recommended level of use of the product is 0.1 – 1.5% (w/w).
