ROKAmer 1000 belongs to the group of non-ionic surfactants (block copolymers of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide, i.e. ROKAmers). The product is a polymer with a specific, double-action structure, which means that it has two hydrophilic groups. This feature distinguishes the group of ROKAmers from other non-ionic surfactants, and determines their properties. ROKAmer 1000 is one of the products with anti-foaming properties. It is dedicated to professional detergents for industrial and institutional cleaning, as well as for some industrial processes.
The product is a clear, colourless liquid with a low freezing point, i.e. below -20°C, and the active substance content of about 100%. The product is cold water soluble. The ROKAmer 1000 aqueous solutions are clear below room temperature and become turbid at temperatures above 25°C. The product is highly hydrophobic. This means that it can be used as an ingredient in professional dishwasher and anti-foaming agents. It can be used alone as an anti-foam agent.
ROKAmer 1000 is also used as a dispersant of dyes and pigments. It is also a carrier in pigment paste formulations for coloring polyurethane foams. ROKAmer 1000 is hard water resistant, and is dedicated to neutral or slightly alkaline formulations.
In addition, ROKAmer 1000 is a reactive surfactant. It is possible to further modify it, e.g. with fatty acids. Its derivatives can be used as anti-foaming ingredients in the paper and food industry (e.g. sugar production), as well as in numerous processes in which there is a problem of process or waste water foaming. Due to its properties, the product reduces the surface tension between the liquid and air, while improving foam "drainage", resulting in foam reduction.
ROKAmer 1000 does not contain silicone, it is not classified as a dangerous substance, and is susceptible to aerobic biodegradation. ROKAmer 1000 complies with the regulations allowing the product to come into indirect contact with food. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) permits the use of this product and its derivatives as an anti-foamer under the conditions described in the following FDA sections:
Ethylene oxide and propylene oxide block copolymer, Oxirane, methyl-, polymer with oxirane, ether with 1, 2-propanediol (2:1), Oxirane, 2-methyl-, polymer with oxirane, ether with 1, 2-propanediol (2:1), 1, 2-Propyleneglycol, ethoxylated andpropoxylated, Polypropoxylated, polyethoxylated propylene glycol, Propane-1, 2-diol, ethoxylated, propoxylated, Propylene glycol, propylene oxide, ethylene oxide polymer, Polypropoxylated, polyethoxylated, propylene glycol, Oxirane, polymer with methyloxirane, ether with 1, 2-propanediol (2:1), CAS 9003-11-6.
