Rofluid S is an aqueous solution of polycarboxylate ether (PCE) from milky to transparent colour, low viscosity and a dry matter content of 50%. It is used as a raw material for the production of a new generation of concrete admixtures. It is a very effective plasticizer that allows maintaining the concrete with a long term stable consistency, and increasing the rheological parameters of the mix. This product is also fully compatible with other products of the Rofluid series.
The chemical structure of Rofluid S determines its mode of action. The polymer is in the form of a bundle that adsorbs on the surface of cement grains, creating a steric hindrance for other cement grains. This greatly facilitates cement dispersion, i.e. it improves the hydration process of alite and belite by increasing the reaction surfaces, which are one of the components of Portland clinker. The addition of Rofluid S allows maintaining the concrete with the long term stable consistency, which is highly desired in building massive elements. The dosage of the PCE type superplasticizer into the concrete mix depends, among others, on the type of cement, the method of preparing the mix, the method of mixing, and ambient temperature.
