Rofluid H1 is a raw material used in the production of concrete admixtures, based on an aqueous solution of polycarboxylate ether (PCE).PCE is a comb-like polymer with varying colour from transparent to milky white. The polymer consists of a long main chain, and short side chains.
The principle of operation of Rofluid H1 is based on the adsorption of a polymer molecule on cement grains, and sterical repulsion of the molecules due to the appropriate structure of PCE. It facilitates the dispersion of cement grains in the mix, which enables to obtain a higher grade of concrete, using the same amount of binder. The addition of Rofluid H1 to the concrete mix improves its workability by reducing the mixing water compared to the control mix by over 35%, which improves concrete durability over time by increasing its tightness. In the production of prefabricated elements, the increased early strength of concrete enables more frequent mould rotation. It is recommended to check the effectiveness of Rofluid H1 with the cement used, because of the variety of cement additives that may affect the performance properties of the superplasticizer.
