ROKAfenol D8 is a non-ionic surfactant classified in the group of ethoxylated dodecylphenols. It has the form of a clear or opalescent oily liquid with a colour of max. 100 on the Hazen scale. The cloud point of this product for an aqueous solution is in the range 48-56°C. Its coagulation temperature is 11°C, and the content of the active substance is about 100%. It is characterized by good water solubility (it undergoes the gelling stage), and clouds after heating.
It is mainly recommended for the textile, tanning, construction industries, as well as a component of formulations for industrial and institutional cleaning (in closed circuits). It constitutes the main ingredient for cleaning, washing agents and detergents, as well as textile preparations. Its performance parameters do not deteriorate at low temperatures, because it is active in cold water, as well as in hard water, in acidic, neutral and alkaline baths. ROKAfenol D8 is characterized by wetting and detergent properties, the action of which is effective even at high concentrations of electrolytes, as well as in environments with oxidizing and reducing agents. It prevents calcium soap precipitation, thus preventing stains and uneven colouration of textiles and fabrics. The product has the capacity to reduce surface tension at the same level as ethoxylated nonylphenols, the use of which is severely limited in the EU market from 2021. In comparison with ethoxylated nonylphenol with a medium ethoxylation level of 8 it has lower foam forming properties
ROKAfenol D8 is an excellent emulsifier for fats, oils, waxes, organic solvents, synthetic polyester resins. Thanks to this the detergent processes are more efficient. ROKAfenol D8 can be used in the textile industry as a substitute for ethoxylated nonylphenols:
detergent (raw fibres in the processing of cotton, wool and synthetic fibres, for detaching natural silk, removes impurities, grease and preparations applied during spinning and weaving),
dampener (e.g. for carbonisation or finishing baths),
dispersant,
penetrator (for bleaching baths),
additive to pigments of different colour classes and types at any processing stage,
dyeing and finishing agent for all types of fibres.
ROKAfenol D8 can also constitute an ingredient for washing, cleaning, moistening and degreasing compositions for industrial purposes. Mixing with alkylosulfates and alkylarylsulfonates exhibits a synergistic effect, therefore it constitutes an excellent additive for the production of industrial and institutional washing agents.
In the metallurgical industry this product can be used in mixtures with mineral acids and corrosion inhibitors to clean, degrease and etch metal products. It is a component of preparations used to increase lubrication and the washability of oil coolants. It is an additive used to increase corrosion resistance and resistance to the staining of zinc coatings. It is a gloss carrier used in electroplating.
In the tanning industry ROKAfenol D8 can play the role of leather dampener, softener and degreaser. In dry tanning, it has a dispersing effect on the pigments and it is an additive in the leather dyeing process. It accelerates the penetration of tanning agents, at the same time degreasing and cleaning the leather and nap. ROKAfenol D8 can be also used as an emulsifier in the production of bituminous emulsions.
In the paper industry this product can be used as a substitute to ethoxylated nonylphenols in the processes of wetting, emulsifying and destaining the paper pulp and cellulose.
