ROKAnol® IT40/70 is a non-ionic surfactant, which belongs to the group of ethoxylated alcohols. This product is used as an effective and efficient emulsifier in the emulsion polymerization process.
ROKAnol® IT40/70 is a high-ethoxylated (40EO) isotridecylic alcohol with HLB of about 18. It is a light-coloured solution with colour on the Hazen scale at 150. It dissolves very well in water and in low aliphatic alcohols.
The density of the product at 25°C is approx. 1.09 g/mL and its viscosity is approx. 1200 cP.
ROKAnol® IT40/70 has active substance concentration value of 70% in the solution.
The product is commonly used in the industrial production process of acrylic, styrene-acrylic and vinyl dispersions.
During the synthesis, it effectively stabilizes the resulting polymer particles, preventing their coagulation, which translates into a low coagulate content in the final dispersion.
ROKAnol IT40/70 also ensures excellent stability of the finished dispersion, giving it appropriate stability in the presence of electrolytes, organic solvents, as well as improves its resistance to freeze-thaw cycles.
In order to achieve maximum efficiency, it is recommended to use ROKAnol IT40/70 in combination with appropriate anionic surfactants, in particular SULFOROKAnol L430/1, SULFOROKAnol L725/1 and SULFOROKAnol L1230/1.
ROKAnol IT40/70 is an environmentally-friendly product, free from ethoxylated alkylphenols. It is an excellent alternative to high-ethoxylated (40EO) nonylphenol.
In addition, ROKAnol IT40/70 does not contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs). That is why ROKAnol IT40/70 is particularly recommended for environmentally-friendly products.
Recommended in formulations is 0.5% - 3.0% of the active substance per monomer mass.
