Tequat E is a cationic surfactant. It is obtained by condensation of fatty acids of animal origin and triethanolamine, and then quaternised. The commercial product is offered in isopropanol, in the form of a soft, white to yellow paste.
The INCI name of the product is: Dihydrogenated Tallowethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate & Ditallowethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate.
The product forms a dispersion in water. Its density at 50°C is approximately 0.964 g / mL. Its solidification point is 40°C and its flash point is 78°C.
Tequat E is used as an antistatic softening agent, which is a major component of fabric softeners and concentrates in the household chemicals industry.
The product is a new class of cationic surfactants called esterquats. It displays an advantage over previous product generations, including due to easier biodegradability (due to the presence of ester bonds), lower toxicity and lower irritating potential.
In addition, Tequat E has anti-electrostatic and fibre softening properties. The surfactant is used all over the world, mainly as an active ingredient in concentrates and washing liquids in household chemicals. The use of Tequat E allows you to remove the stiffness, roughness and coarseness of fabrics, giving them softness and fluffiness, and it also facilitates the discharge of electrostatic charges. What’s more, it can be used for antistatic treatment of industrial fibres and as a component of waxes and car care pastes.
Tequat E is a surfactant with a high degree of biodegradability (according to OECD criteria).
A mixture of fatty acid diester quaternary methylsulfates and triethanolamine in isopropanol, A mixture of O-isopropyl ethylthiocarbamate and emulsifiers, a mixture of isopropylethyl thionocarbamate and emulsifiers, a mixture of carbamothioic acid, ethyl ester, O- (1-methylotylethyl) and a mixture of isopropyl ethyl carbamate emulsifiers, a mixture of N-ethylthionocarbamic acid O-isopropyl ester and emulsifiers, a mixture of O-propan-2-yl N-ethyl carbamothioate and emulsifiers, a mixture of O-propan-2-yl, N-ethylcarbamothioate and emulsifiers.
