POLIkol 6000 PILLS is a polyoxyethylene glycol (PEG) product with an average molecular weight of 6000, known by its INCI name PEG-135. It is commercially available as white to light yellow wax pastilles with a solidification point between 52-58 °C. The product is highly soluble in water and low aliphatic alcohols. It is safe, non-toxic, and does not irritate the skin.
The pastille form of POLIkol 6000 offers significant advantages for formulators, including ease of dosing and storage. It eliminates the need for costly heating of storage tanks to maintain the product in a liquid state.
POLIkol 6000 PILLS can be utilized in cosmetic products as a lubricant and humectant, such as in lipsticks, lip liners, moisturizing and anti-wrinkle creams, and hair styling products. It enhances the rheological properties of formulations by increasing viscosity. Additionally, it serves as a carrier for active substances and a binder in professional dishwashing agents, laundry tablets, and bath salts.
In industrial applications, it is used in lubricants, particularly water-soluble synthetic fluids for machining and heat transfer, and acts as an anti-adhesive in the rubber processing industry (including tire manufacturing), as well as in plastics and elastomers. It is also employed as an auxiliary agent in galvanizing processes, textile treatments, and paint additives.
POLIkol 6000 PILLS functions as a plasticizer and binder in ceramics and biopolymer-based food packaging production. It has been approved by the FDA as an indirect food additive under CFR 21: 175.105; 175.210; 176.180; 176.200, within the limits specified by the regulations.
Additionally, POLIkol 6000 PILLS acts as a drying agent in flexographic ink formulations and as a thickening and humectant additive in PVA-based water adhesives.
The product is not classified under the CLP/GHS regulations.
