Rotanina M70 is a synthetic substitute of tanning agents with bleaching properties used in the treatment of chrome and vegetable tanned leather. It is an anionic product of formaldehyde-urea condensation of phenolsulfonic acids and phenol. The product is a viscous, almost transparent yellow to light brown liquid. It is mixed with water without any restrictions.
Rotanina M70 can also be mixed in any ratio with solutions of vegetable tanning agents and anionic syntans. By using the product on its own, it is possible to achieve a stiffness of the leather and a bright, almost white colour. The characteristic feature of the syntan is its ability to whiten chrome-tanned leather, while maintaining high smoothness and firmness of the leather. Rotanina M70 used in vegetable tanning processes helps to obtain a bright and uniform colour of leather. Moreover, this synthetic tannin acidifies and facilitates maintaining of proper acidity of tanning wort and prevents the development of moulds.
Rotanina M70 is a syntan used mainly for whitening of chromium-tanned leather. In addition, it has a good equalising effect and facilitates obtaining uniform, pure colours, and in the case of velour and nubuck leathers it makes it possible to obtain a fine finish.
