Chemal Alkoxylated alcoholss are generally low foam surfactants which provide wetting, detergency, and defoaming properties. They are used in rinse aids and mechanical dishwashing detergents, spray metal cleaning, formulations, and other detergent products where low foaming properties are required. Chemal LFL-47 is primarily recommended for evaluation in defoaming, wetting, detergent, and rinse aid antistreaking applications.
Chemal LFL-47 is a nonionic surfactant belonging to the group of alkoxylated fatty alcohols. The product is based on a short carbon chain alcohol and has a chemical description of “Alcohols, C6-10, ethoxylated, propoxylated”. Chemal LFL-47 may be used in mechanical dish wash formulations and rinse aids, as well as in textile and cleaning applications where there is a need for low to non-foaming products. It may also be used in any spray cleaning applications for metal and hard surface substrates where low to non-foaming properties are required, including cascading rinse aids for industrial processes.
Chemal LFL-47 is a clear to slightly hazy liquid with a maximum color of 100 APHA at 25°C. The product is sold in 100% active form which may become hazy when cooled. Low heat and mild agitation will easily restore the material to clarity if this occurs. Chemal LFL-47 forms a clear solution in water at ambient temperature. As the chemistry will cloud out at temperatures above ~49°C, it provides low foaming and defoaming properties to aqueous cleaning and wetting solutions to cleaning systems at elevated temperatures.
This product is characterized by an HLB of 16 and may be mixed with other nonionic, cationic, or anionic agents. Chemal LFL-47 exhibits a Draves wetting speed of >180 seconds @ 25°C and a surface tension of 35.3 under the same conditions.
