Chemal DA-4 is primarily recommended for evaluation in defoaming, wetting and emulsifying applications.
Chemal DA-4 is a nonionic surfactant belonging to the group of ethoxylated fatty alcohols, INCI name: Deceth-4. The Chemal DA- series of products are based on decyl alcohol. Due to their strong detergency and dispersion capacity they are ideal ingredients of household, industrial, and institutional (HI&I) cleaning products.
Chemal DA-4 is a clear to slightly hazy liquid with an active substance content of approximately 100%. The product may become a soft paste or stratify under cold conditions, but is easily restored to homogeneity with low heat and agitation. The product is dispersible in water exhibiting an aqueous cloud point of < 25°C. Due to its limited water solubility, it forms cloudy solutions in combination with water. However, its high surface activity makes it ideal for use in both water and other liquids and it results in a surface tension of 25.9 d/cm at a 0.1% dilution.
It can be used in combination with other nonionic as well as cationic and anionic surfactants. Chemal DA-4 is characterized by an unstable, fast breaking foam and provides outstanding performance in the Draves wetting Test (7.0 sec @ 25°C). With an HLB of 10.5, this product is useful as a co-emulsifier in multiple systems.
PCC Chemax Inc. is specialized in the production of surfactants and chemical specialist additives used, i.a. in the metallurgical, textile, refinery and mining, and plastics industry.
