Chemal 2EH-5 is a nonionic surfactant that belongs to the group of ethoxylated, branched, short chain alcohols (INCI name: PEG-5 2-ethylhexyl ether). The Chemal 2EH series is based on a 2-ethylhexyl alcohol. Due to the strong detergency, solubilizing and wetting capacity of these alcohols, they are ideal ingredients of household, industrial and institutional cleaning products.
Chemal 2EH-5 is a clear liquid with an active substance content of approximately 100%. The product may haze or stratify under cold conditions, but is easily restored to homogeneity with low heat and agitation. The product is dispersible in water exhibiting an aqueous cloud point of < 25°C. Due to its limited water solubility, it forms cloudy solutions in combination with water. However, its high surface activity makes it ideal for use in both water and other liquids. It can be used in combination with other nonionics as well as cationic and anionic surfactants.
Chemal 2EH-5 is characterized by an unstable, fast breaking foam allowing for use in spray and high agitation cleaning processes. It exhibits low viscosity and has an average molecular weight of 350.
With an HLB of 12.6 this chemistry is useful as a co-emulsifier in multiple systems. Recommended use level: 0.25% to 1.0% by weight.
