Chemal LA-12 is most commonly used to add wetting and detergency characteristics in cleaner formulations to be used at high temperatures. Chemal LA-12 improves penetration and emulsification properties of these systems.
Chemal LA-12 is a nonionic surfactant belonging to the group of ethoxylated fatty alcohols, INCI name: Laureth-12. The product belongs to a group of surfactants based on lauryl alcohol with a chemical description of “Poly (oxy-1,2-ethanediyl), α-dodecyl-ω-hydroxy-”. Chemal LA-12 is most commonly used as a wetting agent and detergent in industrial formulations which include hard surface and textile cleaners. This chemistry is frequently used as raw material for the production of phosphate esters and carboxylates.
Chemal LA-12 is a soft white solid with a maximum color of 100 APHA at 25°C. The product is sold in 100% active form and has a melt point of 32°C. Chemal LA-12 forms a clear solution in water and maintains clarity up to the boiling point (>100°C).
This product is characterized by an HLB value of 14.5 and may be mixed with other nonionic, cationic, and anionic agents. Due to the long carbon chain, Chemal LA-12 also provides lubricity and emulsification attributes in cleaning formulations. This chemistry also provides extremely strong penetrant properties. This makes it extremely useful for removing oils from fabric and fibers.
PCC Chemax Inc. is specialized in the production of surfactants and chemical specialist additives used, i.a. in the metallurgical, textile, refinery and mining, and plastics industry.
