Chemal LA-23 is primarily recommended for evaluation in emulsifying and dispersant/solubilizing applications.
Chemal LA-23 is a nonionic surfactant belonging to the group of ethoxylated fatty alcohols, INCI name: Laureth-23. The product belongs to a group of surfactants based on lauryl alcohol with a chemical description of “Poly (oxy-1,2-ethanediyl), α-dodecyl-ω-hydroxy-”. Chemal LA-23 is most commonly used as an emulsifying and dispersing agent in industrial formulations which include hard surface and textile cleaners. Use in textile formulations also includes dyeing auxiliaries.
It is a soft white solid with a maximum color of 100 APHA at 25°C. The product is sold in 100% active form and has a melt point of 32°C. Chemal LA-23 forms a clear solution in water and maintains clarity up to the boiling point (>100°C).
This product is characterized by an HLB value of 16.7 and may be mixed with other nonionic, cationic, and anionic agents. Due to the long carbon chain, Chemal LA-23 also provides lubricity and emulsification attributes in multiple industry formulations.
