Polymax® PA-671 is commonly used in acid zinc plating systems to impart wetting properties and in the formulation of non-flammable brightener packages with 2-chlorobenzaldehyde and benzylidene acetone.
Polymax® PA-671 belongs to a line of products developed for plating applications. The Polymax® materials offer a variety of functions in both electroless and electrolytic plating baths. Low treat rates and a diversity of chemistries offer economic and formulation options in numerous types of baths.
Polymax® PA-671 is commonly used in acid zinc plating systems at recommended use levels of 0.3-1.0% by weight. It is a versatile chemistry that provides wetting properties to high surface tension, high electrolyte systems. It maintains a low foam and is an easy-to-handle non-viscous liquid.
Brightener concentrates utilize this chemistry as a solubilizing agent for both orthochlorobenzaldehyde (OCB) and bezylidene acetone systems. Typical brightener formulations use 55% Polymax® PA-671 with 20% Chemal BP-261, 12% OCB, and QS water to produce a non-solvent package. In a typical bath addition of 2-5 g/l, Polymax® PA-671 maintains clarity to ~75°C.
