Polymax® PA-31 is a low foaming electroplating additive. Polymax® PA-31 adds grain refinement in mat systems and leveling properties in bright systems. This product has utility in acid tin, tin/lead and zinc systems.
Polymax® PA-31 belongs to a line of products developed for plating applications. The Polymax® materials offer a variety of functions in both electroless and electrolytic plating baths. Low treat rates and a diversity of chemistries offer economic and formulation options in numerous types of baths.
Polymax® PA-31 is a highly acid compatible surfactant used commonly used in acid tin, tin/lead, and zinc systems at a recommended use level of 0.03-0.05 g/l. In mat systems, it offers outstanding grain refinement and provides leveling properties to bright systems. Polymax® PA-31 exhibits an aqueous cloud point slightly below 100°C, but still offers a low foam profile. The product is also effective at elevated ambient temperatures.
Polymax® PA-31 is a polyethoxylated beta naphthol. The nonionic nature of the product makes it readily compatible with a variety of traditional plating additives including boric acid, MSA, and sulfamic acid as well as brightener packages including benzylidene acetone.
PCC Chemax Inc. is specialized in the production of surfactants and chemical specialist additives used, i.a. in the metallurgical, textile, refinery and mining, and plastics industry.
