ROKAnol® NL5 is a non-ionic surfactant from the group of ethoxylated alcohols (INCI name: C9-11 Pareth-5). The product belongs to the ROKAnol® NL series based on C9-C11 synthetic alcohol. The high surface activity of these compounds is used in detergents and cleaning agents. The commercial product contains about 100% of the active substance and takes the form of a clear or turbid liquid, solidifying at a temperature below 0°C.
At room temperature, it takes the form of a clear liquid with a light colour, i.e. up to a maximum of 70 Hazen-scale. ROKAnol® NL5 has good solubility in water. Its cloud point oscillates within the temperature range of 33 ÷ 39°C in aqueous solution. ROKAnol® NL5 can be successfully used in the environment of oxidizing, reducing agents and hard water. Due to its ionic character, this product can be used in a mixture with other non-ionic, anionic and cationic surfactants.
ROKAnol® NL5 together with ROKAnol® NL6W / 95 and ROKAnol® NL9 demonstrate the best wetting properties of the ROKAnol® NL series. This ability provides the high-quality removal of dirt from hard surfaces and from fabric / knitwear. For this reason, the product works well as a component of weak alkaline and acidic detergents, including those for professional use. Examples of such formulations are: universal cleaning liquids, bathroom and kitchen cleaners, floor cleaning agents, degreasing agents for gastronomy, formulations for degreasing metal parts. ROKAnol® NL5 in cleaning preparations is usually used in the presence of a hydrotrope or solvent (e.g., BDG), which improves its stability in the formulation.
ROKAnol® NL5 is used in pre-treatment of fibres. The product is recommended for the removal of oil stains (mineral oils) from fabric and knitwear, created as a result of knitting and weaving processes. In addition, ROKAnol® NL5 can be used as an ingredient in a bleach composition of raw knitted and cotton fabrics. Its presence in the formulation improves the capillarity of the dye, which improves the bleaching efficiency in dyeing processes. In addition, the product meets the safety standards for textiles set by leading global textile institutes, such as the Oeko-Tex Standard Association and the ZDHC Program.
ROKAnol® NL5 is a very good emulsifier of polyethylene waxes. In this application it acts as a stabilizer for the emerging microemulsion. The polyethylene emulsions are used, inter alia, in the paint and varnish industry.
The product is readily biodegradable and meets the biodegradability criteria set out in the Regulation (EC) No. 648/2004 on detergents.
