ROKAnol® NL8 belongs to non-ionic surfactants from the group of ethoxylated fatty alcohols (INCI name: C9-11 Pareth-8). The product belongs to the ROKAnol® NL series based on C9-C11 synthetic alcohol. High surface activity allows them to be used in detergents and cleaning agents.
The commercial product contains about 100% of the active substance. Takes the form of a clear or turbid liquid with a tendency to delaminate over time, solidifying at about 13°C. At 40°C, it is a clear liquid with a light colour, i.e. up to 70 Hazen-scale. Among the ROKAnol NL series, ROKAnol® NL8 exhibits hydrophilic properties, which makes it highly soluble in water and low aliphatic alcohols.
It is characterized by moderate foaming and good alkali resistance (up to 90g NaOH / L). It has a high cloud point within the temperature range of 78 ÷ 85°C in aqueous solution. It can be successfully used in the environment of oxidizing agents, reducing agents and hard water. Due to its ionic nature, this product can be used in a mixture with other non-ionic auxiliaries as well as in formulations with anionic and cationic surfactants.
The use of ROKAnol® NL8 ensures optimal wetting of the cleaned surface, and due to the very high detergent properties, also the high quality of removing dirt from the surface of both the fabric/knitwear and the hard surface. Moreover, the product has the ability to disperse dirt particles in aqueous cleaning processes, which is important in detergency. Due to such numerous advantages, the product works well as a component of alkaline and acidic detergents for professional washing and industrial and institutional cleaning.
Due to such numerous advantages, the product works well as a component of weakly alkaline and acidic detergents, also those for professional use. Examples of such formulations are: universal cleaning liquids, bathroom and kitchen cleaners, floor cleaning agents, degreasing agents for gastronomy, formulations for degreasing metal parts. ROKAnol® NL8 in cleaning formulations is usually used in the presence of a hydrotrope or solvent (e.g., BDG), which improves its stability in the formulation. Such compositions may also contain anionic surfactants, e.g. ABSNa. ROKAnol® NL8 is also used in car chemistry as a degreasing ingredient in car shampoos.
In addition, ROKAnol® NL8 has been used in pre-treatment of fibres. It can be successfully recommended for removing mineral oil stains from fabric/knitwear that result from industrial knitting and weaving processes. The product, due to the excellent wetting properties of cotton fabric, can be used as an ingredient in the bleach composition of raw knitted fabrics and cotton fabrics. Its presence in the formulation improves bleaching efficiency, which improves dye capillarity in dyeing processes.
ROKAnol® NL8 is a very good emulsifier of silicone oil with which it forms microemulsions. These compositions are used, among others as softeners necessary in textile processes. In addition, the product meets the safety standards for textiles set by the world's leading textile institutes, such as the Oeko-Tex Standard Association or the ZDHC Program.
The product is highly biodegradable and complies with the biodegradability criteria set out in Regulation (EC) No. 648/2004 on detergents.
