Rostabil DDPP is an alkyl-aryl phosphite in the form of a clear, homogeneous liquid with a characteristic, delicate fragrance. It is used as a process stabilizer in plastics processing. It prevents degradation of polymer materials providing thermal and process protection. The use of Rostabil DDPP stabilizer eliminates the effect of yellowing of materials. It significantly enhances the colour stability of pigment-containing materials and provides transparency to non-pigmented products.
The concept of degradation (aging) of plastics is very important from the point of view of both the manufacturer and the end user. The chemical reactions occurring under the destructive effects of oxygen, temperature or ozone cause breaking of the polymer chain. These changes directly affect the course of the processing process and the functional properties of finished products, i.e. hue, gloss, shade.
In order to minimize the effects of degradation of polymer materials, stabilizers or mixtures thereof which exhibit mutual synergistic effect are used. The Rostabil DDPP stabilizer can be used as a co-stabilizer with zinc, barium and calcium stearates during PVC processing. It is successfully used in the production of powder coatings in thermal processing, together with phenolic and amine stabilizers.
