POLIkol 400 belongs to the group of polyoxyethylene glycols (PEG with an average molecular weight of 400). INCI: PEG-8. The product is a colourless liquid, well soluble in water. It is characterized by strong hygroscopic properties. In addition, it exhibits excellent dissolution capacity of the active ingredients. POLIkol 400 is characterized by a wide range of applications. The product has excellent softening, lubricating, solubilizing, moisturizing and anti-electrostatic properties.
In cosmetic formulations POLIkol 400 performs the function of a solubilizer and a humectant, binding water. It can be effectively used to modify the rheology of active substances. Due to antielectrostatic properties, the product is used in industrial cleaning, metalworking and dyeing baths as a levelling agent. Hygroscopic properties are used in the agrochemical industry, especially in the production of fertilizers. The product is also a raw material for the production of esters in the chemical industry.
POLIkol 400 is used for hardening concrete and cement mortars, and by reducing water losses in mixes it ensures bonding of the material. With appropriate dosing, Polyethylene glycol increases the mechanical strength of the hardened concrete. It can be used in the self-curing concrete.
In addition, POLIkol 400 has a positive opinion from the FDA (Food and Drug Agency), which allows the use of polyethylene glycol in the form of a non-direct food additive based on CFR 21: 175.105, 175.210, 176.180, 176.200.
