ROKAnol® IT6R is a non-ionic surfactant of the group of ethoxylated fatty alcohols (INCI name: Isotrideceth-6). The product belongs to the ROKAnol® IT series which contains surfactants based on isotridecyl alcohol (iso-C13). The commercial form of ROKAnol® IT6R contains about 100% active substance.
The product takes the form of a clear or cloudy liquid with a tendency to delaminate, solidifying at a temperature close to 3°C. It becomes clear at 50°C and has a light colour, i.e. up to 100 HU. The product has a higher hydrophilicity compared to ROKAnol® IT3 and IT5. It has a cloud point within the temperature range of 71÷74°C (in butyldiglycol/water solution). Due to its limited water solubility, it forms cloudy solutions in water.
ROKAnol® IT6R has excellent wetting properties. Together with ROKAnol® IT7, it is the best wetting agent of the entire ROKAnol® IT series. This means that it effectively removes air entrapped in the fabric, which results in complete immersion of the material in the solution. Thanks to this mechanism, a high efficiency of the cotton bleaching process is achieved. Additionally, the product improves dye absorption (capillarity) into the structure of the textile material during further processing of textile products. In addition, it has the ability to emulsify mineral oil, which makes it suitable for use in products for removing stains from machine oil during the initial treatment of fabrics/ knitted fabrics.
It meets the safety standards for textile products set by the world's leading textile institutes, such as the Oeko – Tex Standard, ZDHC Program.
Wetting, emulsifying and detergency properties, as well as low-foaming properties of the product are used in the process of industrial and institutional cleaning. Rokanol® IT6R in professional liquid laundry detergents is most often combined with other non-ionic surfactants, BDG and alkalis. Such a composition may also contain anionic surfactants, e.g. ABSNa.
ROKAnol® IT6R is an excellent silicone oil emulsifier with which it forms microemulsions. Such compositions are used, among others, as softening agents necessary in textile processes.
The product is active in cold water, acidic and neutral baths, as well as diluted alkalis. It can be effectively used in the environment of oxidizing, reducing factors and in the presence of hard water.
The product is used as an additive in the production of food packaging or materials intended for contact with food. Its composition complies with the regulations authorizing the product to be in indirect contact with food, based on the lists published by the American FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and the German organization BfR (Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung).
