Rostabil DPDP is a secondary antioxidant in the form of a homogeneous liquid with a characteristic, delicate fragrance. It effectively prevents degradation of polymeric materials, eliminating the effect of yellowing of finished products. Rostabil DPDP stabilizes the polymer processing process, providing effective thermal protection. At the same time, it significantly enhances the colour stability of pigment-containing materials and provides transparency to non-pigmented products.
In the context of polymeric materials, the term degradation (aging) is used to determine changes in physical properties caused by chemical reactions. As a result of these reactions, the polymer chain ruptures, which causes a decrease in the molar mass of the macromolecular compound. These changes directly affect the course of the processing process and the functional properties of finished products, i.e. colour, gloss, shade.
By using Rostabil DPDP together with the primary stabilizers, a synergy effect is obtained, effectively inhibiting the degradation process. Rostabil DPDP is one of the ingredients of "mixed metals" mixtures, together with zinc, barium or calcium stearates in PVC processing. It also works effectively in thermal processing processes in the production of powder paints with phenolic and amine stabilizers.
