ROKAnol® IT3 is a non-ionic surfactant from the group of ethoxylated fatty alcohols (INCI name: Isotrideceth-3). The product belongs to the ROKAnol® IT series, a large group of surface-active products based on isotridecyl alcohol (iso-C13). The product contains about 100% of the active substance.
ROKAnol® IT3 at room temperature is in the form of a clear or slightly turbid liquid with a tendency to delaminate. At about -20°C it solidifies, while at 40°C it is a clear liquid with a light colour, i.e. up to 100 Hazen-scale. Among all products of the ROKAnol® IT series, this product is characterized by high hydrophobicity and low cloud point in the 48 ÷ 51°C range (in butyl-glycol / water solution). When combined with water, it forms emulsions because of poor water solubility.
Due to the non-ionic nature, it works perfectly in combination with other non-ionic, cationic and anionic surface-active products. ROKAnol® IT3 stands out from other ROKAnol® IT products with its non-foaming capacity. In addition, it has very good detergent, emulsifying and dispersing properties. ROKAnol® IT3 is perfectly suited as a co-surfactant in all types of cleaning formulations, especially in products intended for industrial and institutional applications. Together with ROKAnol® IT8 and IT9 it is used in professional institutional washing fluids providing optimal detergency.
The product is also used as a washing substance and emulsifier in cosmetics for personal hygiene, such as shower gels, liquid soaps and as an emulsifier for fragrances, for example in body and hair fragrance mists. The ability to emulsify essential oils is also used in aerosol air fresheners.
The product also has a number of industrial applications, e.g. it can be used in iron ore enrichment processes. What's more, it has the ability to emulsify mineral oil, thus, it is used in products for removing stains from mineral machine oil during pre-treatment of fabrics or knitwear. As an excellent co-surfactant it can be used in formulations designed for the bleaching processes of cotton fibres.
The product can also be used as an emulsifier in metalworking products and in plant protection products, mainly in liquid pesticide formulations of EC, EW and SE type.
In addition, ROKAnol® IT3 is a component of air-entraining admixtures for concrete and cement mortars. The product ensures very good wetting of the cement grains and also facilitates the introduction of fine air bubbles into the moulded mass. As a result, the plasticity of the fresh mix is improved, in which the air bladders work as bearings, increasing the workability of the mass without the need to change the W / C ratio.
ROKAnol® IT3 is a biodegradable product, compliant with the biodegradability criteria set out in Regulation (EC) No. 648/2004 on detergents.
