Sodium C12-C14 Laureth Sulfate is a compound representing surfactants, i.e. surface-active compounds. The cleaning abilities resulting from the chemical structure of its molecule have been used in the production of cleaning agents with a wide range of applications.
Sodium C12-C14 Laureth Sulfate (its name in the INCI international nomenclature system) is the sodium salt of ethoxylated lauryl alcohol. The CAS number of this compound is 68891-38-3. It is an anionic surfactant that includes the group of alkyl ether sulfates. It is a derivative of alcohol known to be used in all types of cosmetics intended for personal care, such as shampoos or conditioners: Sodium Laureth Sulfate.
The commercially available product can be obtained in the form of a liquid paste, which is usually colourless, but can be also light yellow. Sodium C12-C14 Laureth Sulfate offered by the PCC Group, in commercial form, contains as much as 70% of the active substance, which gives significant economic benefits related to the reduction of storage and transport costs.
Sodium C12-C14 Laureth Sulfate can be found in:
The action of this anionic surfactant is largely based on the production of so-called micelles that are directly involved in the removal of dirt. Micelles surround dirt particles and facilitate its removal from the surface. Sodium C12-C14 Laureth Sulfate forms micelles even at a low concentration, thanks to a very low value of the critical micelle concentration (CMC). This affects its further properties, i.e. good cleaning, emulsifying and foaming action (it creates stable foams). Its structure and chemical properties make it perfect for use in personal care products and products intended for industrial applications (cleaning of hard surfaces or car chemicals).
