Copolymers are a type of polymers that contain two or more types of monomers in their chains. These compounds are produced because they possess unique physical properties that are absent in homopolymers, made up exclusively of the same monomers. They are a certain mixture of their properties, acquired in varying degrees. Among this group of compounds we can identify statistical, gradient, block and graft copolymers.
These are among the strongest and most rigid thermoplastic materials. They are distinguished by their mechanical strength and high rigidity. These properties are the reason for copolymer ubiquity and versatility as construction materials, as they work well even for complex components. An additional quality is their very good shape stability.
Copolymers are used in almost every industry, for example in the automotive and electronics industries, as well as in medical technology.
