EXTREME-pressure process additives are chemicals performing variety of functions, whose common feature is exceptional resistance to high pressures.
High-pressure processes take place in systems that use compressed gases or liquids such as water, refrigerants or oils. High-pressure process additives provide these liquids with exceptional lubricating properties and resistance to high pressures. The substances in this group are multi-purpose and have different characteristics, both in terms of properties and structure, but most of them are phosphates. The additives have emulsifying, cleaning, wetting and anti-foaming properties. Some of them also have the ability to inhibit corrosion.
Processes classified as high-pressure ones include, among others, those related to metalworking, therefore additives to high-pressure processes are often included in the composition of machining fluids, hydraulic fluids and oils intended for rolling.
