Firefighting is the process of fire suppression by means of extinguishing agents, i.e. substances that inhibit combustion processes.
Fire refers to the state of burning that produces flames which can destroy materials within its range. Firefighting is intended to protect life and property, minimise damage and prevent the spread of fire.
Effective inhibition of the burning process is ensured by extinguishing agents, which usually work in several stages. In addition to the final effect of extinguishing the fire, these substances protect the objects on fire and shorten the extinguishing time. Additional requirements for extinguishing agents are: high efficiency, speed of action and spreading on surfaces, as well as resistance to recurrence of fire.
Depending on the type of burning material, different types of extinguishing agents are used. One of which is firefighting foam, which is produced from foam-forming concentrates of appropriately selected composition, ensuring maximum effectiveness of operation.
