Formulation stabilisers are substances added to products or substances in order to maintain their desired properties, extend their shelf life and prevent degradation.
Additives to compositions are designed to provide stabilisation at various levels and resistance to the effects of individual factors, such as, e.g. high temperature.
Thermal stabilisers prevent thermal degradation, yellowing, and colour changes caused by high temperatures in processing. UV stabilisers are in turn used in products exposed to UV radiation, such as paints and coatings.
Oxidative stabilisers are chosen where oxidation reactions are undesirable. They help maintain freshness, scents and flavours, and reduce the risk of spoilage of the products.
Foam stabilisers control the formation of foam, preventing excessive growth or breakdown of the foam, which affects the quality and performance of the product.
Rheological stabilisers control viscosity, fluidity and other rheological properties in order to ensure the desired application and usage characteristics of cosmetics.
