Low-foaming agents are additives whose main role is to prevent the formation of abundant foam.
Low-foaming preparations are used wherever the effect of rapid growth and stabilization of the foam is undesirable. Not only do they reduce foaming, but they also act as surfactants, therefore being effective washing and cleaning agents. Low-foaming agents are also characterized by wetting and emulsifying properties, which facilitates the removal of impurities. These products are required to be active in a wide temperature range and to be compatible with other ingredients in the preparations.
Low-foaming agents are used in a wide range of household chemical products intended for washing, such as dishwashers, as well as in metal cleaning, mining, textile, dairy and food industries.
