Reverse osmosis-based desalination

The reverse osmosis process is a key element of one of the primary water desalination methods. It is also used for the concentration and treatment of industrial wastewater, particularly that from the paper, food and galvanic industries.

The method based on reverse osmosis enables water and valuable substances carried by wastewater to be reclaimed with relatively low energy consumption. This is made possible because, among other reasons, no phase transition occurs.

The reverse osmosis process involves forcing the diffusion of the solvent through a semi-permeable membrane which separates two solutions with different concentrations.

The PCC Group has in its range a high-quality caustic soda, excellent for the desalination method based on reverse osmosis. The products include GreenlineTM flaked soda, designed specifically with green chemistry in mind.
