The paints consist of a colouring substance (pigment) and a number of additives, such as binders, thinners, dispersing agents, preservatives and many others.
Heat stabilizers are substances that prevent polymer degradation processes occurring as a result of the influence of increased temperature during material processing.
They effectively prevent the degradation processes during the entire lifetime of the product, providing a uniform colour of finished products. To achieve the best results, the heat stabilizers are used in combination with other types of stabilizers.
With reference to polymeric materials, the concept of degradation or ageing is used to indicate changes in the physical properties due to chemical reactions. These reactions break the polymer chain which reduces the molar mass of the macromolecular compound. During processing, plastics may be subject to decomposition, which affects the properties of the finished product, i.e. colour, lustre, hue. Therefore, to prevent further degradation, heat stabilizers are applied.
Process stabilizers are used in many industries, including plastics, paints, varnishes, construction industry and transport.
